Universal Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena
Illinois Chapter
Annunciation Monastery is also home of the Illinois Chapter of the Universal Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena. The Universal Archconfraternity of Saint Philomena is an international association dedicated to promoting devotion to Saint Philomena, a young early Christian virgin and martyr venerated for her purity, courage and powerful intercession.
Founded in the 19th century after the spread of devotion to Saint Philomena - especially through the influence of saints, clergy, and reported miracles - the Archconfraternity was established with approval from the Catholic Church to organize and guide the faithful who sought her patronage.
Members commit to wearing the blessed cord of Saint Philomena, daily prayer, and supporting the Sanctuary of Saint Philomena in Mugnano, Italy. Members share in the spiritual benefits, including plenary indulgences, associated with the Sanctuary and the Archconfraternity’s prayers.
Devotional items, such as blessed Saint Philomena cords, novena and prayer cards are available at the monastery or upon request. To inquire about a membership, contact Brother Joseph Filomeno at (708) 968-4554.
